Marshall and Leslie are located on Highway 65 in Searcy County, one of the prettiest counties in northwest Arkansas. Here, you will find gorgeous valleys cut by clear water streams, beautiful tree covered mountains, the scenic Buffalo River winding along tall stone bluffs, and wilderness areas where hiking, hunting, and fishing can be enjoyed. Driving our country roads, you see idyllic green pastures dotted with grazing cattle or herds of horses. Picturesque farmhouses nestle in green fields, behind which rise the forested Ozarks mountains, especially radiant when gilded with bright Fall colors.
Searcy County is a place for easy living, for a vacation get away, for low key retirement, with close proximity to the natural beauties found in forested mountain settings, adorned with lakes, rivers and streams. Wildlife is plentiful. Eagles soar from rocky cliffs. Road runners dash across country lanes. Wild turkey, deer, and bear are found here, and sometimes a lone mountain lion.
Elk can be seen along the Buffalo River heading west toward Jasper and Ponca. At dusk on summer days, fireflies light up the meadows, flickering like stars fallen to earth from the sky. And the night sky! So many stars to see without all those urban lights.
A little further south on Highway 65 is Clinton, Arkansas in Van Buren County located in the Ozarks Little Red River Valley. Nearby Greers Ferry Lake offers 40,000 acres of good fishing and water sports. There are several marinas, campgrounds and boat docks available. Each year, an estimated 20,000 people are on hand to watch the excitement of the annual Chuckwagon Races held on Labor Day weekend. Other activities include vendors of western collectibles, crafts, art, saddles and tack set up at the Western Trade Show.
